Modglin's 1800's NC-TN-IL
My Modglin line descends as follows:
1. Truman Modglin + Mary Ann (maiden name unknown)
2. William Modglin + Nella Dukes
3. George Washington Modglin + Zuritha Walls
4. William Washington Modglin + Josephine Tripp
5. George Washington Modglin + Mamie Baker
I have reason to believe that William Modglin (wife of Nella) died in 1843 Wilson County, Tennessee for 2 reasons. 1)I have a photocopy of an Inventory and Sale of property of "William Modglin deceased" from Wilson County, Tennessee 2)Nella Dukes Modglin remarried a John Holmes September 16, 1844 Wilson County, Tennessee shortly after.
Can't seem to locate Nella Modglins' children in 1850 Census that still lived at home when she remarried. Possibly dispersed to live with siblings already married?
Can't seem to locate George Washington Modglin and Zuritha in the census other than 1850 Wilson County, Tennessee. Zuritha shows back up in 1880 Williamson County, Illinois as a widow living with son-in-law and two daughters.
Can't seem to locate William Washington Modglin in census other than 1850 Wilson County, Tennessee (he's 1 month old). I know he was married at least once before he married my great-grandmother(Josephine Tripp)and had at least one child (Fred Modglin)that I know of that was a half-brother to my grandfather(George Washington Modglin).
He shows back up in 1900 Pulaski County, Illinois married to Josephine Tripp. I would like to find William Washington Modglin 1860,70,80 but am having no luck.
About Truman Modglin--- was Strangeman Modglin his brother? Does anyone have the siblings for Truman? Also who were his parents?
Any help is appreciated.
