Helen Alice Moen McClanahan, 89, of Luverne, died Friday, March 30, 2007, at Mary Jane Brown Good Samaritan Home, Luverne.
Born Feb. 23, 1918, in Windom, she was the daughter of George and Minnie Brazle Wiecks. She married Floyd Moen Nov. 27, 1937, in Lake Wilson. He died May 24, 1955. She married Joe McClanahan Oct. 19, 1959, in Lake Wilson. He died Aug. 14, 1997.
She attended school in Walnut Grove. Following her first marriage, the couple lived in Lake Wilson, and she worked in the café and grocery store and in Admiral Television sales. She continued to run the café and grocery store following her husband’s death. Following her second marriage, they continued to live in Lake Wilson. In 1965, they moved to Tucson, Ariz., where she worked as a realtor and also at the Pioneer Hotel. Following her husband’s death, she moved to Quartzite, Ariz., where she worked for her son in Judy’s Fashion Accents. In July 2006, she moved to Mary Jane Brown Good Samaritan Home, Luverne. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Lake Wilson. She was also a member of the Disabled Veterans Club and ran the organization’s thrift store in Tucson, and served as headmaster of the Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving are four children, Ardys Fisher, Fountain, Colo., Lucille (Loren) Ask, Kenneth, George (Marjorie Ehrenberg) Moen, Las Vegas, Nev., and Robert Moen (special friend Loretta Newell), Quartzsite; one stepson, Joe McClanahan Jr., Del City, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Lake Wilson.
