William Cornett (b. 1781 NC or VA) married Nancy Shaffer (1789 VA) in 1811 while in Kentucky. Her father is Jacob Shaffer and her mother is Nancy Hopkins. Some where around 1820 they (William and Nancy) move to Howard Co. Missouri.
They have 10 children, one of whom is William Jackson Cornett (b. 1817 MO) he died in 1874. William Jackson married four times. He first married Zerilda Pilcher on the 18th August 1843. They have three children together, William Lewis (1844), John L. (1846) and Jimmie (1848). Zerilda dies in 1848 probably because of Jimmie’s birth. Jimmie dies shortly thereafter.
In the same year (1848) William marries Zerilda’s sister Susan Pilcher. Susan and William Jackson have Thomas Benton in 1849 and she dies probably in child birth.
Willima Jackson moves the family into his mother’s (Nancy) home and goes to California over the Oregon Trail. He doesn’t return until 1858.
In 1859 he marries Rebecca Moffat and by March of 1859 is in Henry Co., MO. John L. Cornett (1846) dies October of 1859.

Thomas Benton Cornett ca. 1868 marries Margaret “Maggie” May Martin (b. 1849) , daughter of Claudius B. Martin and Anna Eliza Jarrett.
Some where around 1880 Thomas has moved his family in to Oklahoma and Indian Territory and remains there for some time. By 1900 he is in Johnson County, Arkansas.
