Hi Pat,Thank you again for the wonderful info on Mofields--I am not new to genealogy, but fairly new on Mofields.I live in OR, but my husband is from the Duncan, OK area, so I have spent some time in Durant, OK and other areas.Even though my husband comes from a family of 12, ten grew up.The older ones didn't know anything about their parents, or didn't care, or the parents didn't talk about their past.(Probably too busy raising the family).I have had good success on my line mainly because so much documentation existed and my mother had kept many valuable records.
I am finally happy with what I have found on the Lambeths, so that is when I decided I would see if my husband could find out some more info on his family. My husband goes by Dail (his middle name). When we were in OK I copied many documents on Barnetts, as I knew they were family-Dail's mother had a couple little pictures we had saved after her death. So I am able to put the Barnett info where it should be I think.Mary Eula Barnett married R.M. or Richard Morefield-the one you showed in the 1900 Bonham, TX census.Mary's dad was Issac Marion Barnett and mother Catharine Margaret Click. So wondering if the Northcut Hooks family-perhaps Laura B. Morefield married the Hooks boy.Issac was born in TN and Catherine Click in GA.
I know of a Fannie Barnett who was the daughter of Issac Marion Barnett and I had thought at one time was married to John Mofield, but I do not have anything to substantiate this.
If you want to write me direct, I have email@example.com for an address. Please feel free to use it anytime.
If you want anything more on Barnetts, I can share what I have.I can certainly understand why the names of Mofield, etc. are confusing. When I would visit with some of the people in OK, I would have to pay attention, as I was not used to the drawl.Dail's mother did not write too well, so that is a good example of how things got confused. So I am sure that happened with the census takers also-very easily.Dail's mother Lou or Ludie (Sudie) lived in Ury, OK when she applied for the marriage license.I finally found it just a short distance from Durant and that is where they got the license. She was 18 and date of marriage was Sept. 21, 1912.Egbert Lambeth (Dail's dad) was 11 and from Durant. Both were born in TX.
My thanks again for the neat info and quick answer.Makes it so much more interesting when you find someone that is doing the same family names and now we can call each other "cousin".It may be a few generations down the line, but I still consider them "cousins".
Not sure about the Caddo Co., LA.I had checked some things in Caddo, OK.How much of that was Indian territory at that time.Perhaps the records are somewhere else, if there are any.
Will visit with you again.Phyllis & Dail(Where are you located at?)
