Hi Roger, I had hoped Pat Seaver would have given you additional information pertaining to you inquiry, but evidently she has not visited this site lately. To answer your question, there is little doubt that, like Pat, your Mofield/Morefield ancestry lies in Halifax County, where I was born. We had our Morefield Homecoming there two weeks ago today and Pat and Bob Morefield, who is from Murfeesboro (spelling??) were both there. In March, 2004, Bob Morefield, Phylis Morefield, and I all met at Ron and Pat Seaver's home in Loudon, Tenn., for a few days of sharing notes, and identfying as well as we could the makeups of the various Morefield families located in Halifax County during the early 1800's. We placed Martin Morefield (as diferentiated from Mastin Morefield), as belonging to the family of either Edward (no. 2) of Moore Morefield, with waht we felt was a higher probability that he belonged to Edward. Whoever his father, he was most definitely a grandson son of John Morefield, Sr., and his wife Patsy. Several of us went two the areas of John's two farms in Halifax County while the others were in the area. I would invite you to go to the website Morefield Homeplace, and read message no. 4467 by Pat. Go to Yahoo.com, and enter "Morefield Homeplace" in the search block for the link. Lots and lots to read there. Thanks for your contact, hope you can make it to Halifax county sometime. Sandy Hart, who lives in California, was here two weekd ago.Cousin Bill Moorefield in Martinsville, Va.
