J. H. MOGG, Pioneer, Is Critically Ill
J. H. MOGG, age 80 years, is critically ill at his home here. His son MELVIN MOGG and daughter MRS. JAMES W. KYLE and Mr. Kyle of Cheyenne were summoned to his bedside. His brother FLETCHER MOGG and nephews, HIRAM and CICERO MOGG of Lookeba came to see him Tuesday. Another brother GEORGE MOGG lives at Lookeba. Mr. Mogg is a pioneer citizen of Davis, having located here in an early day.

Death Comes to JAMES HENRY MOGG
James Henry Mogg was born near St. Joseph, Missouri Aug. 3, 1849 and died at his home Aug. 1, 1929.
When 14 years of age, he moved with his parents to Russell County, Kentucky. He was twice married, first to MISS ELIZABETH WILKENSON of Kentucky who preceded him in death. There were no children. On Sept. 8, 1886 he married, MISS NANCY ELLEN LAWLESS of Kentucky. To this union five children were born, three of whom have passed away--CLAUDIE who died in infancy, EFFIE on Jan. 28, 1917, and ELMER on Jan. 4, 1929.
Mr. Mogg moved from Kentucky to Texas and later to Indian Territory. He spent the year 1900 on a farm near Arbuckle and came to Davis in January 1901 and spent the remainder of his life here. He was a cabinet maker by trade, but engaged in carpentry and farming. He was a Bible student and was said to be reading the Bible through for the sixth time. He has been in failing health for two years and gave down rapidly following the death of his son in January.
Surviving near relatives are his wife, son, MELVIN MOGG, and daughter, MRS. JAMES W. KYLE of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, three brothers, one sister and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted from the family home at 3:30 Friday by REV. J. S. FERGUSON. Interment was in Green Hill cemetery.
Mr. Mogg liked a quiet upright life and was well liked by all who knew him.
