My maternal grandmother was a Mary Molnar born December 13, 1895 in Kisvarda, Austria Hungary which today would be in Szabolcs-Szatmar-Bereg, Hungary. I don't know when or how she came to the United States.Perhaps she came with her first husband, an Imri Rojak, with whom she had one daughter. Both died in 1917 with the influenza epidemic. She then married my grandfather, Joseph Toth in 1919.They were married in New Jersey. The only siblings I am aware of are two sisters that were in this country, Rosa and Elizabeth. She had two younger brothers Steven and Michaelin Hungary. There may be other siblings. I don't know the birth dates of any of the siblings but I assume they were all born in Kisvarda. One of the sisters had a son, Louis. I think my mother said they called him "Lutzy"?I recall a story my mother told of one of her mother's brothers coming to the US around 1924-25 and my grandparents were going to sponsor him, but the quota was filled and he ended up in Alberta, Canada. This may have been my grandmother's brother Steven.
Unfortunately, my grandmother died in l928 and my mother was very young and I think we lost track of the Molnars.I don't know if her brother in Canada survived into old age (I think the Molnar women died young -- my grandmother died of pneumonina before the advent of penicillin).
If any of this sounds familiar to anyone, I would love to hear from you.I am hoping Steven Molnar who settled in Canada has descendents with information on the family because they would be my only hope.Maybe your grandfather spoke about his sisters in the US or maybe he went back to Hungary.
