I am trying to find out information about the Moniz/Muniz families of Hawaii around 1870-1880.My gg-grandmother's family was named Muniz from the Azores. She met and married August Pedersen/Petersen on a plantation in Hawaii. (Possibly known as the Kennedy Plantation.) Around 1887 they relocated to San Leandro,CA.Now the confusing part...I am told she may have been from San Miguel??? I also have several variations of her name.First I was told Florina da carnatune Muniz.1900 census shows it as possibly Felomina. One of her children's death certificate gives her last name as Encarnacao and one says Moniz! She was known as Florence to her family.Florina was born abt 1870, Azores and died 1911 in San Leandro, CA.August and Florina had the following children: August, Manuel, Francis Enos, Ermina, Evangeline, Rose, John and Nels. Please check your notes for any of these names! Thanks for taking a look!
