The following information is submitted per your request.
Vicente Montero Duenas (my grandfather), born 11/30/1863 in Capileira Granada, Spain and his wife Maria Antonia Herrera Arias (my grandmother), Born Jun 6, 1867 in Pampaneira, Granada, Spain immegrated to Hawaii in 1911 arriving in Honolulu on 12/3/1911. They brought with them their 7 children, Francisco, Josefa (your grandmother), Luis, Antonio, Nicolas, Isabel, and Jose (my father).
The Montero's were recruited by J. Dole to work the sugar cane plantations in Hawaii because of an accute shortage of labor on the islands. The family was assigned to the plantation called Camp Hakalau on the island of Hawaii near the city of Hilo. I believe the Montero's traveled with their friends the Lopez family. Luis was your grandfather and my uncle.
On of the Lopez sons, Luis Gonzalez Lopez, married Josefa Montero at the sugar cane plantation on 1/7/1912, just one year after arriving.
So, it seems we are cousins, if the above information matches your information. I am developing a family tree on the website MyFamily.com. I've set up an acount and have begun developing the tree along with some bio information on each member of the family. I would be happy to hear from you and maybe we can both fill in the blanks of our family history. I have alot more information than what I've given you here.
