I did some very brief research after reading in the MOODIE book about the Gilbert MUDIE with the CALDWELL connection in Ayrshire, and found that the David CALDWELL who married Rachel CRAIGHEAD in/of North Carolina who were neighbors of Ann (MOODY) McCUISTION (daug. of Thomas MOODY b.c1710 and 1st wife Jean McCuiston/McQuiston and Ann being the wife of Thomas McCuistion), that this David CALDWELL's family ancestry seems to Indeed go back to Ayrshire, Scotland where Gilbert MUDIE and descendants were living in the 1400's. The earliest mention of the Caldwell family that I could find linked to this David was back to a William or an Alexander CALDWELL of Ayshire dating back to the 1500's. Is this entirely correct??At this point I don't know for certain. There was enough supportive evidence showing that its indeed possible, but more research needs to be done, obviously. However, Tentatively this is Really beginning to come together well. This is most likely the branch of MUDIE's/Moodie's/Moody's that our earliest Ydna Moody...Thomas MOODY b.c1710 in/of Aghadowey, Co. L'derry, Nor. Ireland may descend from. It all seems to fit and when checking the IGI records on Family Search, those WITH the Sources taken right from the Old Church / Parish registers, nearly ALL of the Surnames that our Moody's and McQuiston's intermarried with are there at very early dates. From the Renfrewshire area and also in the nearby Ayrshire area. These places are close to Nor. Ireland and this all seems to fit and make very good sense. Again, however I prefer to have Documented proof on these things, but for now, this fits like a glove.Even the early found namaes of Alexander MUDIE/Moodie etc. are all there. Its amazing to see this much supportive evidence come together so nicely, and it has been my experience in the past that when this happens, most likely you are on the correct lineal pathway.I just hope one day to be able to prove this more solidly. Again, this may not be my exact branch, but its the branch in which I believe I belong to, this branch from Ayrshire and Renfrewshire has ties to those over in the Fifeshire area as well which again fits perfectly with what our Alexander MUDIE/MOODY who m. Priscilla DICK's lineage states as to where in Scotland they came from before coming to Lenamore/Magilligan, Co. L'derry, Nor. Ireland in the mid to latter 1600's, and I've found supportive evidence of that from both books The Moodie Book publ. in 1906 and The Mudie's of Angus book printed in the 1950's. So it would appear that even though this is not my own direct line of Moody's as it most likely is for those associated with the McQuiston family line, it is part of my Ydna Genetic Moody family tree and therefore we would all be attending the same family reunion so to speak. I thought this was rather exciting news so wanted to share it here. Hope some day we can actually prove all of this.
