Thanks Chrisine for all the info you shared and posted.
The Samuel Moody of Maine...his line has already been proven via Ydna testing results to belong to the English line of Moody's so they do not link to my and most probably not your Moody's either since both of our lines were known to have come from Scotland to Nor. Ireland before coming to America.
The Samuel Moody papers you quoted that have the Samuel going to NY in 1776 and having some link to the "Staunton" Augusta Co., VA area folks is interesting because no where (that I can find so far), in Chalkers "Chronicles of the Scotch-Irish Settlement in Virginia" (3 vol. set), do I see a Samuel Moody listed. There is Andrew, James and Robert MOODY listed in the Index.James and Robert MOODY came to Augusta Co., VA from PA but no one seems to know from What Part of PA so it remains a mystery.
Andrew MOODY and his nephew of the same age came to Augusta Co. VA directly from Nor. Ireland, but again, little is known of them.
I suspect this Samuel Moody of Henrico Co., VA is also from one of the many English lines of Moody's that have already been ydna tested as well.
Thanks again for taking the time to share this info.
It will no doubt be helpful to many in their genealogical research.
