I have been given the permission of Ydna cousin Len Moody to post this latest info about his family that he found so here it is.I am hoping that folks who may be related to this line in AL or elsewhere will respond with further details regarding these folks. Nathaniel MOODY b.c1775 (son of Alexander MOODY son of Thomas MOODY and his 1st wife Jean McCUISTON (McQuiston))from Stokes Co., NC who went to Giles Co., TN c1801 who married Mary "Polly" FLYNT in 1797...their eldest daughter Sarah Martin MOODY married Richard Booker WALTHALL (who later became 1st Senator of Alabama), apparently they married in Giles Co., TN from documentation that Len has. From other documents he has, he states that Nathaniel MOODY's papers from Giles Co., TN were attested and signed by a Thomas F. MOODY whom he suspects was possibly Nathaniels brother. Len speculates that Nathaniel and his brother Thomas were both in that large wagon train party that left NC for TN. He also stated that he has documents that show that just before Nathaniel left Giles Co., TN he sold nearly everything he had which was around c1821.He also has a document that shows that Sarah Martin (MOODY) WALTHALL and her husband Richard B. Walthall removed to the area of Greene Co., AL in the early 1820's. So, Len did some digging around and found the following: Mortality Schedule of 1850 for Greene Co., AL- Nathaniel MOODY residence Greene Co., AL b. 1775 Birthplace - NC; gender-Male; Death year- 1849 - Widowed.
From the Estate Records of Greene Co., AL: Thomas F. MOODY Estate Probated - 1836 (Thomas was a Judge of some sort in Greene Co., AL...perhaps a Probate Judge or Children's Judge)
Students at the Univ. of AL in 1831-1901 Richard WALTHALL planter of Greenesboro, AL Son of Richard Booker WALTHALL and Sarah Martin MOODY born 1823 d. 1851. ***************************************** We hope this may be helpful info to others researching these lines and if anyone out there has further info about them or their family and is willing to share, we would love to hear from you. Thank you.
