Hi Kay, You're right about the English ancestry for George, apparently.I have a posting under "Mummy" surname with a little more info. "Tracing the Mumme's from Pennsylvania to Ohio"
This is also a posting I had under the Mummy name:
This is in addition to the info. I've posted on "Trailing the Mummy's..."
The first known Mumme in PA, Samuel Mumme, was born abt. 16 February, 1709. His age at death was recorded to be 60 years, 11 months, 2 weeks and 5 days. He was married to Eva.
According to church records (and contrary to the concensus of what we have all believed aboutour Mumme origins), Eva's husband was born in England. There is a notation next to Eva's name on the records of "Eng". According to someone who's supposed to know the meaning behind the notations, that meant her husband was from England. Samuel was not attending church (or that church, anyway).
I checked on Familysearch.org, and there was a Samuel Mumme, born to Isack Mumy and Sara (maiden name prob. Adams) and christened March 1709. This occurred in London, London England. That would certainly work out as far as his birth date.
Eva's parents were Philip Kify and Anna Catherina Kieffin (Kieffen being the variation of Kify to denote a married woman). Whether or not Philip is Eva's father or stepfather has not yet been proven. Whether of not Eva was Kify, she was more than likely German.
Regarding their children, and some of this may be a repeat from my other posting:
