I believe that it would be a remarkable connection to be related to Sir Thomas More.I temporarily resided in Hertfordshire over the course of several years. In a local pub, I had seen a write up about him being local to the area.
Unfortunately, I am inclined to believe that the information presented as fact is more likely a gimmick to get people interested in genealogy.I began looking more closely at the individuals listed with the "4/5 star" rated connections and realized that the information is probably wrong.I have discovered that when the records start to make the connection through succeeding female lines, the accuracy is greatly diminished.
The Genealogy listed is as follows:
From Sir Thomas More, they trace the line through John More then Thomas More. From a union between Thomas More and Mary Scrope they go to a daughter Mary. Mary More married Edward Moore.Though Ancestry.com does not have this couple listed with a child named Mary, they have made a "4 star" connection to a daughter Mary Moore. When I look at the information of Mary Moore, they have her mother as the same Mary More, daughter of Thomas, but they have her father as Edward Norris rather than Edward Moore.
Mary Moore married Thomas Green, and they have a daughter named Mary Green.Mary Green married John Davis and together they had a have a son named John Davis.
I could go on, but I believe that the wrong information can already be seen here. After three more generations, I get to information that I know to be accurate.
