My grandfather Robert Able Moren and his wife Hildur Britt Engstrom [Sweedish] left from emmbarkation point, Gotenberg, Sweeden, between 1900-1905, and settled in the Rockford/Freeport, IL, area.Robert Able was a French Hugenot and came from the Alsace Loraine region.When the French government forced the Hugenot Protestants from Alsace Loraine, the Sweedish government accepted them.Whie in Sweeden Robert met Hildur and married.Other Morens from this extended family left Gotenberg approximately the same time and settled in Chicago, Evanston and Peoria, IL and Janesville, WI.Robert and Hilder had 4-children all born in USA, my father Robert William Moren and 3-sisters:Margaret, Marian, and Anna Mae.Robert W. married Alice Cox from Iowa but lived in Freeport, Il where they had 2-sons: Robert Alan [Stoughton, WI] and William Arthur [Port Washington, WI]
I'm Bob and I married Colleen McCafferty of PA.We lived in Mt. Prospect, IL where we had 1-son/Michael-Warwick, RI], and 3-daughters Amy [Kenesey-Ft. Wayne], Andrea [Riley-Myrtle Beach] [twins], and Amanda-Stoughton WI. Michael married Kathy Fahey and they now have 4-sons, Hugh, Dan, Mike, and Timmy.Amy & Tim Kenesey have 3-daughters, Andrea & Mike Riley have 2-sons and 1-daughter, and Amanda has 1-son. My wife Colleen and I  now live in Stoughton, WI.My brother Bill  and his wife Pat [Wesson IL] lived for many years in DesMoines but now live in Port Washington, WI.There only daughter Emily lives in Chicago with her husband Joe Higgins and their daughter Rylie.
As a side note, about 10-years ago I traveled to Stockholm and while there leafed through the local phone book where I discovered about 6-pages of Moren listings.I was also in Gotenberg on that trip and again check the phone book where I found no Moren listings.
