My MORGAN line is in group 4 from John Morgan 1748 of Nash NC, and James Morgan his father. We think we are in the Tredgar line and according to the Morgan family who lived in Wales until 1950 in the same Valley for generations, do claim to be a descendant of Henry Morgan the pirate according to family lore. Their match was from Pontypool Wales and Caerleon just down the road from Tredgar, __ if you look on the map for Pontypool. It is hard to know for sure but we do know from DNA that we had family living in that area 1700's so we could be from the Tredgar Line too.
The Edward Morgan line of Sarah Morgan is from the North of Wales in Merionetshire,__ and a Quaker line, according to the author Micheal Morgan who wrote the book "Boone" and lived in Wilson NC all his life and is now a teacher at Cornell University, wrote Edward was a 10th generation descendant of Llewelyn Ap Morgan. I have a Morgan from this line who wrote me that his line is from 3 MORGAN lines. I think Terry's, Morgan's were Quaker's and after researching his line some I find he is related to these Quaker lines as they did not marry out of the church nor did they have slaves nor did they kill in the war but did serve in the Rev War. If you look at Henry Morgan from Rowan and Valentine Morgan, Theophilous, Nathan, Enoch, he appears to me to be Irish with just the name of Valentine from the Irish Saint Valentine and from PA and living in the same exact area as Daniel Boone in Rowan. I counted 3 Quaker meeting houses in that area on the 1779 map and just down the road in Mecklenberg still more Quaker's Morgan from PA and then the KY line who I think was from the Riffle men Daniel Morgan, the Fauquier VA Morgan of Charles, Simon,Benj, and Col Daniel Morgan. I am not an expert on these Morgan's but I did try to sort them out on this map with the Roster of Soldiers from the Rev War records of NC.
Have you had any DNA done on your line to know exactly what group you fall into? That is the only way to know for sure which group you belong to and if you have not do think about having it done with as many markers as you can afford so you can narrow it as close as can be done.
