Hi Mary, Thank you for all of your Morgan research. It will take several of us and DNA testing to sort all of this out over time. The Morgan family is one of the oldest and largest families in America.
I have 3 Morgan lines in my family. Yes, many of them were Quaker and remained so by staying andliving within the church teachings. However, many of my Morgans were also Baptist and helped form the Baptist movement in this country. Most of the Gloucester, NJ Morgans were in fact Baptist. They would inlcude George and Randall Morgan that many on this site are researching. My ggg grandfather, Zachariah Morgan was also a devout Baptist and helped start the Baptist church at Oven Fork in Harlan, KY in the early 1800's.
The book, "Boone" you cited is one of the most comprehensive biographies written about Daniel Boone in modern times. I recommend it for anyone interested in his life. It was actually written by Robert Morgan, who is a professor at Cornell. (I think this is the same book/author you were referring to, if not I apologize) He also wrote "Gap Creek" a wonderful fiction about the area he grew up in. This book was one Oprah endorsed in her book reviews and a best seller.Robert Morgan is a cousin of mine and we awarded him our "Morgan Family Lifetime Achievement Award" two years ago at our reunion in Hyden, KY. He was there and spoke at length about our family history.
