Hi Mary. Yes, that's correct, Robert Morgan. We had a long discussion prior to him receiving our family's award and determined that we were distant cousins. None the less, the book is excellent and I think an accurate depiction of Daniel Boone and the challenges he must have faced.
I am not sure about the Maryland Morgan line. I have only recently started looking at them and their possible connectionreminder to the West family that moved the Pendleton District of South Carolina.
Yes, I remember your ancestors John and Hardy Morgan. Before DNA proved otherwise, I thought I might have been from this line because my gg grandfather, Elisha Morgan was nicknamed Hardy. Turns out DNA proved I wasn't connected to your Hardy and I found out that they called my gg grandfather Hardy because he liked to eat! How goofy is that? Seems that all of my Morgans had nicknames and Hardy was his.
Yes, I have 3 Morgan lines. At least two of them may interconnect. One line I have confirmed goes back to James Morgan and Jane Evans who left Nantmell Parrish, Radnorshire, Wales around 1690. Jane died on board ship and James died shortly after arriving in America. Both are buried in Maryland. Many of their direct descendants are living throughout the US today. Another line goes through my ggg grandfather, Zachariah. DNA has proven that his line is tied closely to the Baptist Morgans from Gloucester, NJ that includes George and Randall Morgan who were born in 1708 and 1710.
My last line is my gggg grandmother, Hannah Morgan. She said she was General Daniel Morgan's sister and that she had other brothers, William, John, James and David. DNA ties her to the Philadelphia area Morgans that include Edward Morgan who was the grandfather of Daniel Boone. This connection makes sense because if you remember from Robert Morgan's Boone biography, Daniel Boone's son Nathan said that his father told him that he and General Daniel Morgan were cousins. I don't believe they were first cousins but were some type of distant cousins and that they knew each other going back to their wagonner days with Braddock.
