I am looking for the same information.John L T Morgan was a brother of my gg grandfather Morgan of Augusta,John was married to a woman name Savannah according to census 1870..she may also be Sarah Dowdy as this is another possible name for her. When she died 1876-1880, he was listed as a widow on the 1880 census with the children, Gussie, Avis, Isabel and John W?.He is married on the 1900 census to Ida B James Morgan. They have the following children listed Hannie, Joseph F., Maudine, Homer C and possibly a John Dewey Morgan. John L T Morgan was a civil war veteran and applied for an indigent pension in the early 1900's..1903?He stated he was not living with his family. There is no trace of him after this filing.Ida, his wife was then married to a William Gordon King. She died Jan 1947 and is buried in the Steadman cemetery in Augusta.Hannie above was married to a Hester or Jester. Her obit has Joseph jester but in the obits of all of her other family members it is spelled Hester???? She had no children and died in a Waynesboro nursing home.Homer C Morgan died Dec 1987 and is buried in Steadman cemetery. He was survived by Ola Hartsell Morgan his wife, and Elsie Morgan Kirby, Dorothy Morgan Carpenter, daus. and William G Morgan a resident of Washington D.C....his son. (No obits of family ever mention John L T ???) Maudine married Charles Higgins and she died Jan 1975 in augusta and is buried in the Steadman cemetery. She had three daughters. Joseph F Morgan died in Augusta 1936 with burial in the Steadman cemetery. His wife was Ada Virginia Morgan. John Dewey Morgan is buried at Steadman also. They are all connected to the Friendship methodist church but I have not been able to get them to return a call or answer a letter. Another relative of John L. T. Morgan is trying to verify his death and burial place so he can have a veterans stone put in place.I don't think he had a marked grave due to finances and seperation from family.i tend to think he is in the Steadman cemetery but can not verifiy that.
Any help or suggestions would be great!!Candace Jeffers Smith
