hi Carl,
Your message was posted almost 10 years ago now but I wanted to let you know that it has been helpful to me as I found my g-g-grand-parents listed in the census info that you posted for Ste-Justine; they are Joseph Morin & Euphemie Gregoire (page 176, line 2).
The info I have for Joseph Morin is that he was born Jan 4, 1806 in Maskinongé (St-Joseph), QC to Antoine (#2) Morin & Marie (Josephe/Joséphine) Pagé, and died Dec 27, 1879 in St-Maurice (Champlain), QC. he married Euphemie Gregoire Feb 11 or 15, 1836 in Maskinongé (St-Joesph), QC.The only info I have for Euphemie is that she may have died in Chicago, Illinois somewhere around 1881 to 1885 (3 of their sons settled in southern Manitoba around that time) and that she was the daughter of Antoine Grégoire & Thérèse Enouil (Enouille) dit Lavoie (Lanoix).
The children listed for them should read as follow:
1."Philomine 19" - Philomene Morin, b. Oct 17, 1841 Maskinongé (St-Joseph), QC; d. ?
2."AL ? 18" - (I am assuming the following based on the stated age) Olive Marguerite Morin, b. June 29, 1843 Maskinongé (St-Joseph), QC; d. Feb 1, 1879 St-Maurice (Champlain), QC
3. "Joseph 15" -Joseph Morin, b. Nov 6, 1845 Maskinongé (St-Joseph), QC; d. ?
4."Marie 13" - Marie Morin, b. 1845 or 1846;d. March 14, 1912 Grand’Mère (Ste-Flore), QC; m. Feb 24, 1868 St-Maurice (Champlain), QC to Jacques Morais, b. ?; d. ? (son of ? )
5. "Norbert 12" - Norbert Morin, b. Sept 19, 1849 Maskinongé (St-Joseph), QC; d. ?
6."Cha(Charles) 8 - Charles “Le Rouge” Morin, b. 7."Pierre 7" - Pierre Morin, b. June 14, 1853 in Maskinongé (St-Joseph), QC; d. ?; m. April 20, 1880 in Trois-Rivières (Cathedral Immaculee.-Conception), QC toMarie Levasseur, b.circa 1860; d. ?(Daughter of Edouard Levasseur & Rose-de-Lima (Délima) Bellisle (Bélisle) dit Germain (?))
8."David 5" - David Morin, b. March 13, 1856 in Maskinongé (St-Joseph), QC (other possible dates of birth are May 25, 1858 from Census CAN 1901 and Aug 1855 from Census CAN 1911); d. 1945 St-Malo, MB; m. June 13, 1882 St-Pierre-Jolys, MB to Joséphine (Philomène) Marcotte, b. Sept 2, 1865 in Quebec per death cert (other possible dates of of birth are Sept 16, 1865 from Census CAN 1901, March 1865 from Census CAN 1911 & 1865 from local parish book); d. Jan 20, 1934 St-Malo, MB (daughter of Ferdinand Marcotte & Caroline Pitau (Pitaud/Piteau/Piteault)) MY DIRECT ANCESTOR
9."Adelara(Adelard) 1" - Adélard Morin, b. June 4, 1860 in St-Justin (Maskinongé), QC (other possible dates of birth are June 4, 1862 from Census CAN 1901); d. March 20, 1944 St-Malo, MB; m. (1) May 8, 1882 St-Maurice (Champlain), QC to Severine Bourque, b. circa 1863 (possibly in Maskinongé); d. Nov 2, 1894 St-Malo, MB (per death cert)(daughter of ? );m. (2) Nov 28, 1896 St-Malo, MB to Josephine Hogue, b. Oct 16, 1868 St-David, QC (other possible dates of birth are Oct 16, 1870 from Census CAN 1901 & April 1870 from Census CAN 1911 and Sept 2, 1865 on possible death cert); d. possibly Jan 20, 1934 from possible death cert (daughter of Adolphe Hogue & (Adélaide Blanche) Marie Joyal).
I also have 4 other children for thsi couple, 3 of whom for which I have a date of death as before 1861, and one for which I have no date of death, but seeing as she would have been about 14 at the time of this census, chances are that she had already passed, unless the "Al?" noted above is meant to be Malvina and her age was incorrectly listed and her sister Olive, who would have been 18 at the time, was already married and therefore not living with the family.
10. Malvina Morin, b. July 31, 1847 Maskinongé (St-Joseph), QC; d. ?
11. Antoine Morin, b. Sept 8, 1837 in Maskinongé (St-Joseph), QC; d. April 5, 1838 Maskinongé (St-Joseph), QC
12.Norbert Morin, b. Sept 8, 1838 Maskinongé (St-Joseph), QC; d. Aug 31, 1841 Maskinongé (St-Joseph), QC
13.Joseph Morin, b. Jan 3, 1840 Maskinongé (St-Joseph), QC; d. Aug 23, 1841 Maskinongé (St-Joseph), QC
I am still trying to find out what happened to the children that did not travel to Manitoba.Based onthe location of deaths that I have so far found, some of them appear to have remained in Quebec; as for the others, some may have emigrated to the USA or other parts of Canada or Manitoba.
