G.W. Morris Obituary , Saint Jo
G.W. Morris, age 74 died at the home of his son, Lucian Morris Wednesday, October 9, ten miles northeast of Saint Jo.
It was impossible to get a full account of the details by press time last week.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church Thursday afternoon conducted by Rev. Paul Thompson, and Rev. Lee Morris.Intermet in Mountain Park Cemetary, arranged by Scott Bros..
Pallbearers were:Ben Henley, Ted Gregory, Earl Dennis, George Horner, David Milburn, and G.L. Morris.
He was born March 11, 1861 in Henderson County Tennessee, the son of Spencer and Mary Burchett Morris.He came to Montague County in 1882, locating near Hardy.He married there November 2, 1890 to Miss Cattie Garrison.
To this union were born eight children, six of whom survive.He was converted at the age of seventeen to the Baptist Church and was an active member until his death.He had been a deacon for thirty-four years.
He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by three sons; Monroe Morris of Winsboro; Claude Morris of Gainesville, and Lucian Morris of Saint Jo.Three daughters, Mrs. Alice Sosebee of Wilson Oklahoma, Mrs. Ada Walker of Amarillo and Mrs. Grace O'Neal of Saint Jo, and one brother Spencer Morris of Ardmore Oklahoma
