I also have information about William Motes b(1641-1684) - but I cannot document (prove with multiple source documents) he was the father of Jonathan Motte - nor have I found a source document that proves Jonathan or William was a Huguenot. Is William a Huguenot name? I've always thought William is a very English name.
I guess my real question is:when did the family leave France? How long was the family in England (or the British Isles) before migrating to the New World.(In my Hillhouse line the family left Scotland and spent a little over 100 years in Ireland before coming to this country.Yet family tradition - rightly so - claims Scotish heritage. But I have documents - hard papers that show that Abraham was at one seige, signed certain petitions, etc. - and deeds, wills, and church documents...mainly baptism records...to support the claims.Right now I am trying to prove, beyond a doubt, that Adam was Abraham's father.....my Abraham.Adam had a son named Abraham; they lived in the same village; but I cannot prove my Abraham is the only Abraham who could be a son of Adam.)
I will check out the Ancestry.com site. But few sites on the internet actually list sources.Hopefully this one will be the exception.
I had Farrell spelled as Ferrell based on the book "Sanders Grit" by Irene Wallace Sanders, 1974, page 239.Do you know where she and Bertram Lamar SANDERS married on 27 Mar 1921?Is she still alive?
I'm assuming Irene Sanders was the wife of William Orris Sanders.I know that a Mrs. W. O. Sanders submitted a lot of genealogy data I found at the Pike County, AL library.
