You have come to the right place. As a MOYLE one-name researcher, I am interested in helping you trace your MOYLE family history. I have checked my files, but unfortunately cannot come up with anything.
Sheila is correct, your Peter MOYLE b. 22 December 1839 does not appear in the UK Civil Birth Registrations at that time, at least not with the MOYLE spelling. Errors were made, so he could have been registered as MOILE or another variation. The date you have given could also be a christening date and thus he may have been b. months or even years earlier. Also possible he was never registered, although it was required by law since July of 1837.
Cornwall is the origin area for the MOYLE surname, so that part should be correct. I do have several other MOYLE lines who did settle in Pennsylvania, so that too sounds fine. Since Peter was m. in Pennsylvania, have you checked Pennsylvania marriage registrations for him? You might also check the 1900 and 1910 U.S. censuses for Pennsylvania to see if you can find them in it for further clues. Sometimes a parent or other relative can be found visiting or living with the family.
Checking the 1880 U.S. censuses in Pennsylvania and Missouri for which I do have access, I cannot find anyone you have listed here. Could they have been living in another state in 1880? The 1880 census information I have does include alternate surname spellings, and they still were not to be found.
Do did not mention the name of your father. Would you send his name to me, please? Also, any other MOYLE or MOYLE descendants in your family. Do you have any siblings? I am keeping records of all MOYLEs and all descendants of any MOYLE. Please include all BMD dates and locations if known. Thanks.
