My name is Ken Poshedly, originally of Cleveland, Ohio, and son of the late Stephen Lawrence Poshedly (originally of Chestefield, Clarfield County, PA) and Margie Muhaw (originally of Utahville, PA, really the farmhouse midway between Beccaria and Smoke Run, in Clearfield County.
My mom was apparently born Magdeline because I recall various older relatives and friends calling her "Maggie"; she told me that she simply took on the name Margie about 1929 or in the early 1930s while working as a maid/nanny at age 15 or so in New York City (Bronx or Brooklyn, I forget which) because one family she worked for said they liked that name for her and Social Security hadn't yet started).
She also said she had been given no middle name. Is this true?
Her parents were Katherine Fundanich Mucha and Fedor Mucha, though I was told that "Mucha" was changed to Muhaw in the 1920s or so and by whom I don't know.
I've sort of learned that Fedor was born sometime in the mid- or latter-1800s in Wetlina, Poland, though he and many others in the Wetlina area were Ukrainian; he died at the family farmhouse in the above-mentioned Utahville, PA, in December 1918 of the Spanish Flu following World War I.
I don't have a birth year or location for Katherine Fundanich (except "Poland"), but my mom told me that she died in 1935, also at the family farmhouse.
My dad (Steve Poshedly) died on May 24, 1972, in Cleveland, Ohio, of complications following a factory accident three weeks earlier; he was only a few weeks shy of his birthday, June 10, when he would have been 63.
My mom was born May 29, 1914 (at the family farmhouse) and died of lung cancer on September 24, 2004, at age 90 while living with me and my family here in Atlanta, Georgia (I moved here in 1984 for a new job), now I'm out of work once more at age 59.
So the questions are can anybody fill in missing info on my grandparents, Fedor and Katherine Mucha (Muhaw) including dates, home towns, years of emigrations and all the rest)?
