Hi, Betty! Thank you so much for your response.I have read thru many of your posts, while trying to find more information on my John McElroy. ( McElroy is the spelling used in the 1860 Fannin county Ga census).I'd love for you to keep an eye out for anything that might be a connection to this group!
Here's a re-cap of what I have....mostly from that one census entry.
JOHN McELROYb-1795 in GA,blacksmith,lived in Fannin county, Ga in 1860 m._____ _____b.? in Ga.d bfr 1860 ( prob married in GA? Before 1833...) dau. NANCY E. MCELROY HICE WILLIAMSON b-1833-6, d-Dec 11, 1890 married 1. _____ Hice( b? d 1850-52) m. abt 1848-50 children..William Posey Hice b-abt 1850 ( alternately shown 1848-52)
married 2. Anderson (Andrew) Williamson Oct 21, 1855, in Fannin county, Ga. children...Martin b-1856, Martha b-1858, John b-1863, Julia b-1872
One of my Great Aunts, Nancy E. Eller Hice, was named after Greatgrandad's Mother, so Mama always said....as this was later borne out by census entries, perhaps there is a connection to"Eller" somewhere? Any of yourMcElroy's have a wife with the maiden name Eller?
Thanks so much for your interest! Any clue greatly appreciated!! -Fran
