BERNICE LYONS KOEHLER, born February 3, 1907 in Galveston, Texas, died Thursday, July 19, 2001 in Houston, Texas. The daughter of William George and Lillian Olive Muecke Lyons was raised in Galveston, where she graduated from Ball High School. Afterwards, she attended Kidd-Key College in Sherman, Texas. When she married her beloved husband, Alwyn Sterling Koehler, on December 29, 1928, she moved to Houston, where she was active in many organizations and had many friends. She was a charter member of St. Luke's United Methodist church and active in her Current Study Club and the River Oaks Rose Club. Survivors include her daughter, Helen Koehler Little and her husband, William Little, Jr.; grandchildren, Karen Little Preis and her husband, Rex, Linda Little Brown and her husband, Clayton, William Little III and his wife, Lisa, and Julie Ann Little; and also her 5 precious great grandchildren, Katie, Riley, Lauren, Weston and Alex. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the devoted staff at the Hallmark and especially to her longtime housekeeper, Dessie Rae Shadowens. Friends are invited to visitation with the family from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. on Monday, July 23, 2001 in the Drawing Room of The Settegast-Kopf Co. Funeral Directors, 3320 Kirby Drive. Following a private graveside service, a memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, July 24, 2001 in the chapel of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 3471 Westheimer, with Dr. Mark Lewis officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Rex Lawrence Preis and Clayton Henry Brown, and her nephews, Clifford Skiles Thomas, Roger Baier, Benny Barton, Ron Koehler, Randy Koehler and Frank Koehler.
