Obituary of Thos. Mulligan Thomas Mulligan, well known retired Northwestern employe, died at his residence in W.Chicago Friday, of pneumonia after a brief illness. He was born in Co. Connaught, Ireland, March 10, 1834.
He came to the United States in 1859 and later to West Chicago, where he settled in 1864. Shortly after this he entered into the service of he Northwestern Road as night baggageman and switchman being constantly employed until July, 1904, when he was retired on pension He was married in 1863, his wife dying in 1869.
Mr. Mulligan - Uncle Tommy, as every one lovingly called him - was a gentleman of the old school, always polite and obliging, and enjoyed the sincere love and respect of all our citizens. He leaves to mourn his loss two children, Jas. Mulligan, Northwestern agent at West Chicago, and Mrs. J.D. Kelleher, of Batavia, also a number of other relatives. the funeral on Sunday was largely attended, and his remains lie at rest in the family lot in West Chicago. ------------ This news item posted as a courtesy.
