I've seen my Relatives listed in the California Birth and Death Databases with Mullikin (Our Primary Family Name), Mullikan, & Mulliken.
Years ago(early 60's), My Dad was approached by a Genealogist Researcher who had done some extensive searching and wanted some Information (& Financial assistance) from my Dad. Apparently my Father (being in the Air Force at the time) thought it was a scam (which it may have been) and refused to give the guy any info. But that person had said that he had traced most of the variations of the Mullikin name back to like 7 Brothers who had come across from the UK at different times(Different Ships). Some of the spellings that he gave who are supposedly Descendents of these Brothers are: Millican Mullican Milligan Mulligan Millikan Mullikan Milliken Mulliken Millikin Mullikin There were even a few that were "Mulla"???'s. Which is why I'm keeping my mind open to possibilities. You also have to admit that Ermina is not that common of a name and to find it in both a Mulliken and a Mullikin tree seems a bit of a coincidence.
I've also seen this in another branch of my Tree (example; Gausted and Gaustad) Two brothers with Same Mothers Name and now two lines of the family exist.
If you would like to write to me directly you may. Thanks Don
