This is the information that I have along with some pictures of William Mulleneaux, my great grandfather and great grandmother, Mary Ann (McWhirter) Mulleneaux. I also have a photo of a tombstone which reads either:Josern or Joseph H., K., orR.,(this is hard to read), born Mar. 29, 1817,died Apr. 5, 1882. Below that it reads: Mary Mullenix, born June 12, 1816, died Dec 25, 1881. With the Name Mullenix, engraved largely at the base of this large obelisk shaped stone. Written on the back of this photo:Mulleneaux Monuments Hillsboro Ohio Cemetery.
I had been told that the family namehad changed from the Spanish - Mulleniex to the French - Mulleneaux. The two Mulleniex children were taken to live with the mother's French relatives; the Bouvier's. The name change was made so that the children a boy and a girl, would fit in better with their desceased mother's relatives. Later when possibly teenagers, the children, made the trip to America with some of these relatives. I have since found the above mentioned picture and that leaves me towondering if the story is true. I would like to ask for any information reguarding my Mulleniex, Mullenix, Mulleneauxline. One of myGreat Uncles diddo quite a bit of research when I was a very small child. He did not want to share or talk about his findings. He has passed away and I am unable to find his research. I do not holdany of his possible prejudices or problems withwhat ever the truth would be in the findings of my roots. So I would very greatly appreciate any help or leads concerningthese Mullenix or Mulleniex / Mulleneaux lines. I would be happy to help with any one elses search and I can send these pictures online, should anyone be interested.
