I am trying to untangle the history of David D. Mullins, born in VA around 1750 who married Athaliah (Boyd?) around 1789, and was the father of the three daughters (Nuraney/Neuraney, Agness and Susannah who married the three Gwinn/Guinn men (sons of Bartlett Gwinn/Guinn)and may have died around 1823 in Tennessee from the David Mullins who was also born in VA around 1750 and died in Virginia (Henry Co) in 1821 andwho married Susannah Herndon (had a number of children, including those named in his will, John, Henry Green and Cecilia (and two by his second wife, named Burwell and Nathaniel).
I think this David D. Mullins (married Athaliah) is the one who served as a private in the 14th VA Regiment and whose papers are in the national archive. The other David Mullins apparently also served as well, as a pvt, sgt. in the Continental Line (no details on regiment) and as a Captain in the Goochland, Va militia.
The confusion arises because the DAR list of patriots appears to merge both of these men under the Goochland David Mullins.
Has anyone else researched this line to distinguish between the two?Does my analysis seem right?
