Those seeking an eligible father for Mullises born in N. C. between 1750 and 1780s need to bear in mind there was a Wm. Mullis, old enough to perform some service to a Unit of Revolutionary Va/NC Militia passing through the now Wilkes, Surry counties area of northwest N. C. in April, 1782.He was paid L19 (british lbs. money) for some undisclosed service.Presumably he would have been also old enough to already be or soon be a father. Thus far folks have only been able to claim John or George, sons of old Richard from Va.Now we must include William, and also a Richard!
1810 Fed. Census for Randolph Co. N.C. shows a Richard Mullous aged 45+.I think he the same Richard Mullis who next shows up in Adams Co.Ohio in 1820, there until death sometime during the 1840s, his birth in 1750s.
