Hello Paul:
Your best bet to clearly establish which generation emigrated to America is the censuses. Start with the 1870 census and work backward finding you Anthony in each one. Eventually, you will find the notation IRELAND for the place of birth. It is likely that Anthony was either born in Ireland, or his parents were. A word of caution - the 1850 census is the first one which listed the names and ages of any children.
The remainder of this post is a teaching tool to help you research your Irish origins.
I research the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 12,700,000 surviving rcds for abt 65% of Irish counties. Rcds are increasingly sparse B4 1840, rare B4 1800.
Note 1 - Without a KNOWN county, the chance of an ancestor's rcds NOT being in this database is AT LEAST 30%.
Note 2 - Only 1/2 of Co. Cork's rcds are in this database.
Note 3 - The RC church kept control over most parish rcds from Tipperary (north). These are ONLY available thru the Tipperary Family History Research center at a substantial fee (regardless of outcome).
For Anthony Mulloy B 1851 +/- 4 yrs somewhere in Ireland with the father's forename unknown, I found 2 rcds: 1849 Kilkenny, Urlingford RC parish, and 1854 Cork, Aghada RC parish. Father's forenames were Michael and Anthony respectively.
For Mary Murrin B 1853 ditto, I found 3 rcds: 1849 Mayo, Ballyovey RC parish, 1852 Roscommon, and 1855 Limerick. Will leave it to you to complete the task of identifying the other parishes and the father's forenames. This is tedious work.
Off hand, it doesn't look like Anthony and Mary married in Ireland. This is because the set of rcds for each don't show a common parish, and/or are not in close proximity.
Google the Foundation's name to lead you to this database. Register, opt to be notified as rcds are added and browse. Pls post your search results to my genforum msg.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
