Nonetheless Angela, I think that many do not realize that there are three branches, and that the earliest connection with the name would be Mund the Viking. Though there are no actual records I think it probable that Mund aquired the land some time after 874 following Halfdan's conquest of York and subsequent distribution of land by Halfdan to his men.
And yes, I agree. It is doubtful that many of us can claim to be kin. The best one can hope for is to be able to link ancestors with a particular locale, in my case Brigg and the surrounding area.
