This reference is to David A. Murdock. David was a silversmith in NC. David moved to Courtland, Lawrence Co., Ala about 1825.He opened a silversmith business in Courtland.His wife and daughter remained in North Carolina.
David appears in the 1830 Lawrence County census.
David joined Shackleford's Red Rovers and went to Texas in 1836.He was with Col. Fannin at Goliad, Texas and was one of the prisoners murdered by Gen. Santa Anna's men.
David A. Murdock was paid on the usual muster roll certificate for his services from Dec. 15, 1835 to March 27, 1836, as private in Captain Shackelford's Company. [CMSR No. 6944, State Library.]
