With the benefit of more research, I have an updated entry for Thomas:
Thomas H. Murdock was born in Springfield Township, Hamilton County, Ohio on 7or 8 December 1828.He was the son of Thomas Murdock and Elizabeth Sortor.
His parents apparently died young. On 26 March 1833, his grandfather Thomas Sortor died and his will left bequests to the “heirs of Elizabeth Murdock,” inferring that the mother had died before that date. Then on 13 August of that year, the court appointed “Joseph Bloomfell” as guardian of "Jane Murdock age 9 on 22 April next and Thomas age 6 on 7 December next."
Thomas married AMANDA-7 SKILLMAN in Union County, Indiana, on Friday, 14 April 1854.Amanda was born in Indiana, probably Union County, on 12 February 1834.She was the daughter of Samuel Skillman and his wife Sarah A. ------.He and Amanda had at least four children:
i Louella b. March 1856 m. Newton Carter Griffis ii William A. b.c. 1857 m. ------ ------ iii Ina R. b. 2 November 1865 m. (1) William Mangus m. (2) William H. Carlisle iv Frank b. 2 May 1867 m. ------ ------
He eventually moved back to Hamilton County, settling in Mill Creek Township where he and his family were living in 1870 and 1880.Mill Creek was located just to the north of Cincinnati, but was absorbed into the city limits in the late 1800s.
He worked as a teamster.
He died in Carthage, Hamilton County, in March, 1885.The cause of death was listed as consumption. He is buried in Reading Cemetery, Reading, Sycamore Township, Hamilton County.I have yet to uncover any probate documents extant for him.
Amanda died in nearby Elmwood Place, just north of Cincinnati, on 22 September 1906.The cause of death is listed as paralysis. She is buried in the same cemetery as her husband, albeit in a different section.
