It's been a couple of years since I last checked this forum but your postings about the Murdock Family Cemetary gave me a hunch that I decided to follow... looking for connections between Murdocks and the name "Throop", which is where the cemetary is located. The lead that this gave me looks very interesting:
Samuel Murdock (b.24-Mar-1698 Roxbury, Suffolk Co., MA; d.17-Jan-1769 Windham, CT) married one Submit Throop (b.25-Dec-1706 Bristol, CT d.17-Oct-1784 Windham, CT) on 03-Jun-1725 in Lebanon, CT.They had several children: Hannah, William, Samuel, Johnathan, Submit, William, Daniel, Lydia, Eliphalet, and Eunice.
The son named Samuel was born on27-Aug-1729 in Lebanon, CT.He married Mary Wight (b.18-Aug-1732 in Windham, CT) on 15-Mar-1749 in Windham, CT.They in turn had 14 children: Samuel, John, Mary, Hezekiah, Joshua, John, Submit, Joshua, Eli, Daniel, Throop, Eliphalet, Elizabteh, and Eunice.
The son named Eli was born 5-Jan-1765, the same year as our Eli, and lived to be 86 years old.The only difference noted is that this Eli seems to have been born in CT, not NY.
If this does turn out to be the same Eli, then the line would go back from the firt Samuel above as follows:
Robert Murdock (b.6-Sep-1665 Stirling,Scotland; d.28-Apr-1754 Newton, MA) married Hannah Stedman (b.2-Mar-1665 Watertowwn, MA; d.17-Aug-1727 Roxbury, MA) on 28-Apr-1692 in Roxbury, MA.
Robert's father is Jackson Murdock, born 4-Jun-1635 in Scotland.
Hannah's lineage is further documented back to the mid 1500s, I can provide more details if interested.
