Hope that someone is watching this board who is also researching Millstreet, Cullen, Cork Murphys!
My Murphys start with John Murphy b. abt 1830-1835 in Millstreet parish, Cullen, Cork.He married Ellen Curtin (b. abt 1835, Millstreet) in 1858.Son Denis b. 1861 at Knocknageeha (townland), twins Daniel & Patrick b. 1864 in Knocknashannagh, son John b. 1879 Ardnagee. Daughters Mary (b. 1866), Margaret (b. 1869) and Ellen (Nellie, b. 1875) no townland info but all born in Millstreet Parish.
Denis emigrated to NZ, Mary and Margaret went to US (Margaret hated it and came back to run a guesthouse in Cork city that still stands at 8 Kings Terrace with sister Nellie). No info on sons Daniel, Patrick and John.two other babies named Patrick and John died in infancy.
John Murphy the father probably died about 1880 because Margaret and Mary sailed to the US in 1882 with their mother.Assume Ellen Curtin Murphy returned to Ireland but don't know for sure: I can't find death info for her or John.
Would love to know exact birth and death dates for John Murphy and Ellen Curtin, and where they are buried (RC).Would also love to find out if John had siblings, and what became of sons Patrick, Daniel and John.Margaret lived to 1967 and died in Athy, Co. Kildare.Nellie lived at least until 1911, don't know her fate.Mary married my great grandfather Denis Doyle in NYC in 1895 and they settled in Greenwich, Conn.
