Thanks so much for writing. Okay, as you ask, I'll try not to scold too hard if you act up!
Glad you weathered Isaac. Ooff.
To trace the descendants of the Pembroke, Christian County, Kentucky Murphys, we need the birth year of each child, his/her spouse, his/her location in 1940 (the latest census year).
I've started on this.
The 1880 census gives us their birth years. You talked about each child in birth order. Be sure to jump in and add anything more whenever you can.
================================================ 1880 US CENSUS Pembroke, Christian, Kentucky Edward J. Murphy 43, born about 1837 in Tennessee; school teacher Annie W. Murphy 32, born about 1848 in Kentucky Edward J. Murphy 10, b abt 1870 KY David R. Murphy 8, b abt 1872 KY Eugene M. Murphy 6 b abt 1874 KY Earnest C. Murphy 2 b abt 1878 KY Corine Murphy 1 month b abt 1880 KY
In following years I find a David R. Murphy, born about 1872 in Kentucky, as an educator. You had him as a doctor or surgeon "maybe." Will you take an educator?
In 1940 a David R. Murphy was president of Daphne Normal School in Daphne, Baldwin, Alabama. In 1920 David and wife Josephine lived in Calhoun County, Alabama. In 1916 he's in a national educational directory as a city superintendent of schools.
There could be a descendant of the above David at Circle of Champions Outreach, a religious organzation at 985 Comanche Trail, Anniston, Alabama 36206. Use Google to find its phone number and more information. BEWARE: I am not sure yet if the Murphy there is related! Probably no harm done, though, if you give them a ring.
Meanwhile I'll keep working and also I hope others will help.
And if you know any other names, dates, or places, let us know.
LET ME KNOW IF THE DAVID ABOVE is not the right one. But please don't scold too hard if he's not!
By the way, are you familiar with Facebook? Ultimately Facebook will be a good way to connect with someone, should we find names. You might consider becoming a Facebook member just for that purpose. It is free.
