I am descended from William and Ann (Potter) Murty.Marvel Murty Simpson did the bulk of the research for this family. The Bible belonging to this family lists the marriage place of William and Ann Murty as Danville, Columbia Co., Pa, however it does not list a date. The 1850 MO census lists them as having married within the year. The move from PA to MOtook place between 1848 and 1850.The move to Iowa took place 1852.
According to Marvel:William Murty was born 31 Dec. 1818 in Columbia Co., PA based on his death certificate. His parents were born in Ireland based on the 1880 census. His first 5 children were born in Port Carbon, Schuylkill Co., PA based on a 50th wedding anniversary notice of Eliza Murty Yeager. He named his only two sons James Silvers, and William.
I am interested in information regarding this family’s ancestors and descendants, and siblings.
