I am a direct descendant of Edith Mynard born in Emberton in 1867 and who married my Great Grandfather Thomas Henry Grover. Ediths Father was William Mynard born in 1842, died 1922 in Emberton. I have Ediths "Links of Memories" book which is full of births, marriages and deaths for her family. The book is my link to my Grover family which I am researching in London.
Thomas and Edith built their own house in London and called it Emberton. I have a picture of it with the name in stained glass above the door. The house is still there but the name has sadly gone, likewise the family cornershop which was opposite the clocktower in Emberton, is now just a cottage.
The entry in my book for November the 24th says. "My dear wife Edith Grover passed away aged 72 1939". I like to think that they loved each other deeply and I have Victorian Photos of them looking very proud. Other family members have added to the book and without it I would be lost.
When I first got the yearning to find my roots, I called in at Emberton village. It is a must for any Mynard. There are Mynards on the War memorial, Mynard gravestones and memorials in the churchyard, Records and old photos of Mynard bellringers in the Church. My Great Great Grandfathers gravestone is still there in the churchyard. Emberton must have been full of Mynards at one time. I looked at and dated a number of Gravestones and it appeared that the family had diminished or even died out. I left my details in the visitors book in the Church but no-one has contacted me.
Interestingly there are are a dozen or so Mynards in my book plus names which they probably married into, which I havent linked, but unfortunately none of your names, except for an Elsie Richardson 24th March ????.
Perhaps my Mynards are from an earlier generation to you.
We must be related and although I am too busy with Grover family history I would be most happy to helpsomeone with the Emberton Mynard tree. My father is still alive and he just remembers Edith Mynard and some of the family so there is more information available.
