I will have to get all the specifics from her. When I was visiting her the other day, she was tired and didn't feel much like talking. But what she did say was that her family used to spend weekends with Hardy Nabors and his family and that Sudie was her half-aunt.(FYI my grandmother was born in 1918, and she was a Dyson.)
This is were I get my information: 1870 Census Mississippi Lafayaette County P.O. Caswell Twp. #7 Page 413 Dwelling #59 Haney, T. J. This is where the research that my grandmother did stops and mine begins.
The marriage to Amanda E. is a third marriage for T. J. Haney, he was previously married to sisters, first Katy C. Smith then Ann B. Smith, after Katy's death.T. J. and Katy had children Annie Caroline (my grandmother's grandmother), Daniel H., J. Calvin, Adelaide E. (my grandmother's other grandmother). Then if you go by the census information T. J. and Amanda E. were together during 1870 (census date Aug 1, 1870), Susie was not born until August 1871, then T. J. would be her father, making her a half sister to both my grandmother's grandmothers.
Unless T. J. Haney died and she hooked up with this Francis Marion Haney soon after the 1870 census, then I would think that Francis Marion Haney, whom Jim Nabors says is Susie's father, could be Susie's father. But he must have died or left, according to the 1880 census Amanda E. is widowed.I don't know when T. J. died or where, I cannot find any other info on him so it could have been possible.
Or, Amanda E. could have been married first to Francis Marion Haney and had children by him, say the ones on the 1870 census that were not T. J.'s by his previous marrige. But in this case, you would still think that T. J. was Susie's father.
I don't know what to think or if this is correct or not because I have never found a marriage record for T. J. Haney and Amanda E. Phillips.
I hope this wasn't all confusing to you, because it is to me.What do you have on Amanda E. Haney and family? And let me know what you think about all of this.If you could help me figure it out, I would appreciate it.
