As Richard and Jane most likely married after 1837, you would need to get a marriage certificate. It would probably be a good idea to have a look at the 1851 census as well.Marriage certificates are available from the PRO: www.pro.gov.uk, and cost £6.50 in person, £8.00 by post, with references, £11.00 by post, without references. You will need an exact year and location, they don't do much searching without.
You might want to check if your local mormon family research centre has an index to civil registrations in England.I assume you used them to find the 1861 census, if not, you can find them on www.familysearch.org
A UK marriage certificate will (usually) show the following:
Grooms name, age (or 'of full age': over 21) occupation, bachelor/widower Grooms fathers name/occupation Brides name, age (or, 'of full age': over 21) Brides fathers name/occupation Date and place of marriage. (sometimes also witnesses)
For births and marriage before 1837, the best thing to use is the IGI on www.familysearch.org
