Hi Stephen - hope you are still using this website!Good to be in touch with you again.Sorry I've not contacted you for a while but we had a hard disk crash and lost all our e-mail address list!
Could you clarify the parentage of our Julian Nancarrow for me please?I note from your message that you are not following the George N & Margery Hampton theory. Are you going with the Richard N & Elizh Allen parents idea for Julian?I have been interested to find a few other Allen links in later generations, so have considered that one. Please set me on the right track again (as you did before with the John Treseder & Nanny Michell line for my Mary Treseder and then my g. grandmother Mary Woolcock).
Are you saying that Julian was born 1778 approx to Richard N and Elizh Allen (md 21/10/1776 Illogan) and that Richard was the son of one of George's (that married Margery Hampton) brothers? If so, which one please? - Richard & Grace, Stephen & Elizh, Samuel & Ann, or Edward & whoever? and who were Richard's parents? It does seme that it is a good thing to consider the Julian Martyn married to Samuel Nancarrow 1714 Illogan as the Julian that gave our ancestor who married Peter Trezeder her name.
I have to remember in all of this that Julian & Peter were my 4x g grandparents otherwise I get a bit confused!Did I ever get around to telling you that the Redruth History Centre has the Barnstaple records transcribed and I found not only the birth and parentage of Annie Rue in there (John Treseder's second wife) but also the sorry tale of John's drowning in the Falmouth papers that they have on fiche there.I found two newspaper accounts of the coroner's inquest. It sounded as if they wer messing about a bit in the boat and he got a bit crameped or stiff when he stood up and just over-balanced into the water.Such a shame. It mentioned that it was his brother-in-law (a certain John Michell - possibly the school master? & definitely Nanny's brother) who was in the boat with him and their sons.
Anyway, you've probaly found all that already.
Any help with this Nancarrow business would be very gratefully received. Many thanks, Ruth
