First off, THANK YOU for your response, and so much information!!
We are of the same family. What follows is an excerpt of a legal document (I do not have the full, original yet. I hope to visit Richmond Co., GA, and Edgefield Co., SC, next week, and find and copy it)

I believe most of these people, if not all, are Nathan's children.According to census deductions, he had two wives. He married Pherebe Weatherford May 21, 1826, at Harmony Methodist Church, Edgefield Co SC. She would have been a second or later wife, as Nathan had almost grown children by then.I have info on Mary Ann La Taste, Benj. C., Nancy, Nathan, Augustus and Absolom.I found a reference in the 1850 Mortality Schedule that refered to the slaves of Johns(t)on Nipper of Fairfield Co. SC. I haven't done in depth research on these lines, but record info, as I come across it, while I research Nathan's son, Tillman D. (don't know what it stands for), my line. The namesJeremiah, James, and Alexander also pop up in this family.I know that several of these folks moved on to GA and ALA, though I haven't researched, in depth.
Tillman's wife was Sarah Holsenback (Married Nov. 22, 1833-Harmony Methodist Church) Their children were: James, Martha, Tillman, Elizabeth, Mary, Joseph (my line), John, Amanda, Henry Charles, Angelina, Benj. F., Wm. L., Jesse and possibly Sarah.I have info on most of these.
Joseph married Susan (surname and date unknown). They had a 1-year old son, John H. in 1870. By 1880, John was 10, Ida L. (married Galloway) was 7, Charlie was 5, Josie (male) was 2 and an un-named baby boy 4 days old. My grandfather, Ollie was born in 1882. I have no further record of John or the baby boy.Susan died when Ollie was a toddler.Joseph, SR, married in the early 1900s, Alberta Burkhalter, who was much younger than he.They had Annie May, LeAnna, Otis, Pearl, Tillman and a dau. who must have died young.
Ollie married Lillie Mae Wheat (dau. of Henry Edward Wheat and Ada Rosene Youngblood.) Their children: Lillie Mae, Ollie Edward, Burlie Estee, Hubert Lee, William Howard, Catherine Margaret (my mother), Hazel Christine, Johnnie LeRoy, James Roy, and Betty Jean.
I have land records references for Absolom, and deed transactions references that mention Drury, Nathan and James. Also two ladies, Rebeckah (wife of Absolom in 1798) and Elizabeth (his wife in 1814). Drury's wife is given as Elizabeth. They had no children. I found a will where Elizabeth freed 3 slaves and left everything to them upon her death. In the 1800 Census, they had 3 slaves enumerated with them.
South Carolina is so frustrating to research in, they didn't require vital records info like other states, and so much was lost during the War, and for other reasons. The info about James' will certainly sheds some light on the SC Nappiers (the way my mother's family spelled it). Finding info like the legal action for Nathan was a gold mind.I hope paperwork exist in Edgefield for it, but since the solicitor was in Richmond, I will try "across the river" also.I believe that some of Nathan's children moved to Richmond Co.
