Anyone have info. PRO or CON this connection between the Ritchots of Quebec and the Nasons of Kittery? I received the following today:
-------- "...Mr. Jacques Ritchot's real family name was Richard Nason III (born in ca.1680) at South Berwick Maine.(I found this out through a Québec genealogist name Dominique Ritchot whose doing a lot of Ritchot genealogy in the Montreal area.) In circa 1690,Mr. Richard Nason as a boy was apparently abducted by the Indians. He was adopted and raised by the Crevier a french family at the Village of St. François Du Lac, Yamaska in then New-France. He was baptized in January 6th 1691 as Jacques Ritchot. Since 1678, the Crevier family were the Seigneur of St. François Du Lac, a wealthy family. Ritchot family has a lot of relative in Quebec and Western Canada. One of his sons Pierre-Louis ( 1715- 1782) born at St François Du Lac. He was a voyageur (a man who did fur trading) and settled as a farmer in the village of L'Assomption Qc. He explored the Canadian west with Lavérandry a french explorer.Hisbrother was Joseph Ritchot is family has settled in St Francois Du Lac area. His descendants settled in other parts of Quebec and western Canada and the United States...."
