Bayliss nation was indeed born in 1788, I would have guessed later too. In the 1800 census of pendleton co SC he is separately listed, about a dozen people have told me he died in 1857 in Texas. I am looking for a Baylis born about 1860, who does not seem to exist, and who is supposedly Joseph's son. I think this is josephs grandson.
Regarding Eleanor Robins being born Nation.
Thats mentioned in Richard Robins, Loyalist Published by John Taylor 1995. He also mentions another case of one of Richard's brothers marrying sisters.
The Swaim family history By Joseph Mullane.
About three separate Robins family histories I reviewed at the LDS library in Salt Lake City.
Probably also in the Vickery family genealogy.
Christian Swink is 35 in Perry county in the 1860 census, by 1870 he's 50. Are they lying or just unsure, or maybe a child answered the door.
On the official death certificate filed in NYC in 1944 my great great grandmother, born in Italy in 1847 is listed as 72. Her daughter, my great grandmother died in 1940 age 70. My grandmother Personally told me her grandmother died at age 96. My dad's grandmother died in March 1929 in NYC age 64, but her death certificate says 54. The tombstone, and her husband, says 1865-1929. If she was 54 in 1929 my grandfather's older brother was born when she was 11. They also spelled GGGrandpa's last name wrong on his death certificate. So I guess I cant rely on any record written or otherwise. My grandparents were married in 1917, I have the certificate, both of them knocked exactly one year off their ages. Vanity.
All of Verna Nation's books.
I do not think this situation is unique, but if you wish I will try to borrow the Robins genealogy from the LDS.
Also, I would point out that some Robins researchers, particularly in NC say Robins and Robbins are two different families. Not so all the time according to Taylor's research..the added B shows up almost immediately, like the Nation's "s".
How do we know John Nation had only six children? Why is Nathan Nation's wife listed as Tabitah Stevens when her tombstone says Levisa.
Have we forgotten that there was a whole family named Nations in St Mary's County MD as early as 1700? What happened to them?
John your probably right to ask for proof of Eleanor Nation/Robins. But it would take me a month to point out all the errors or suppositions I know in just this family. Why does this one concern you? Respectfully Steve
