Candy,
Sorry to be so long responding to your posting.I have been out of town.
From what I have discovered re: the NAVE family, they were found in TN from the late 1700s.Many in Carter and Roane Counties.
My NAVE family left TN about 1836 and went to Cherokee and DeKalb, AL.My direct line later went to TX about 1880.
Family stories indicate that we have Cherokee heritage.I have not been able to prove this.
Do you know where your NAVE family came from before your father was in MI? Do you know any of the family names that married into your earlier NAVE family?
If you can give me more early information, I might be able to tell you what sites to research.
