William Henry Nease was born in Germany and emmigrated to the USA about 1765 with wife Anna Brock Nease.They settled in Georgetown, PA (now a part of Philadelphia) and had 2 sons, William and Henry.Son William and his decendents remained in PA on his father's land grant. Most of his decendants remained in PA.Henry travelled to the Shenandoah Valley area of VA.There he met and married Anna Mary Zirkle(Zerkle).They moved westward to Racine, OH in 1797.They had 10 children, 4 while they still lived in VA and 6 after they moved to OH. 1. The Nease Settlement in Syracuse, OH is in Meigs County and is right across the Ohio River from the Nease Settlement in New Haven, WV, which is in Mason County.Both are quite a way from Henry County, which is west of there near Toledo.
This info taken from a family history written by Harriet Nease Jewett, the daughter of Michael Nease, granddaughter of Henry Nease and great granddaughter of William Henry Nease that was published in the Pomeroy Ohio Tribune Telegraph on Jan.18, 1922.The last name is spelled Nease consistently in this history.
