From Fran Neary O'Neill: I would appreciate it as well if we could sort this out.I'll fill in as best I can. We are talking about the same tribe, of that I'm sure, but it's at the sibling level back at the g/ or gg/ level or earlier.
My g/grandfather, Stephen Neary, was born circa 1808. Among his children, which I had listed earlier, were Michael Neary, baptized October 1859 (sponsors: Patrick Mullen and Judith Costello)and my grandfather, Thomas.
Michael had a daughter, Delia, as well as other children (not sure I know them all), Stephen, Edward, Thomas, Mary Anne, Kate, Rose and Patrick(?)
Delia married Thomas Griffith (not Griffin and so might not be the same family). They had 11 children: John, Michael, Patrick, Thomas, Mary, Kathleen, Bridie, Eileen, Christie (male), Joseph and Attracta.
Michael's grandson, Jarlath Griffith (father Michael Griffith), lives in Claremorris and is my 2nd cousin, once removed. His grandmother, Delia, and my father were first cousins.
On an Ellis Island ship manifest, Thomas Neary, son of James, from Carrentulla, Claremorris is listed as traveling with a cousin, Margaret Neary (my aunt) on April 6, 1911 on the Adriatic.Thomas was 22 and Margaret - 18. Thomas is listed as the son of James and was going to an uncle, John Neary in New York City. That would be the brother of Michael and Thomas (my grandfather).I have to assume that James was another brother but I do not have anything official on that. James could have been a cousin of Thomas, Michael, John.
E-mail me if you would like to continue.
