HELLO NEBEKER COUSINS:
It is my firm belief that we are descended from Johann Martin Neubecker, who was born December 29, 1729 in Gauersheim, Pflaz, Bavaria,Germany. He was the son of Johann Phillip Neubecker, who died April 22, 1754 and is buried in Gauersheim, Germany. My mother visited the graveyard where he is buried many years ago.
Johann Martin Neubecker married Anna Marie Stille (born December 5, 1739) in Wilmington, Newcastle, Delaware on October 30, 1754. They were the parents of NINE children, the eight of which was Lucas Nebeker, my great, great, great, grandfather. This Lucas was also the grandfather of Enos Nebeker, who was secretary of the treasury in the late 1800's. This Lucas Nebeker and his wife, Hannah Morris migrated from Pickaway Township, Pickaway County, Ohio in 1824. Coming in the same WAGON TRAIN were at least 7 other families from which I am descended. The Nebeker, Shelby, Steely, Morris, Meek, Bilsland, Bishop, and VanDorn families were all next door neighbors in Pickaway County, Ohio. They came to Troy Township, Fountain County, Indiana together and remained neighbors for the rest of their lives. My siblings and I still own considerable land that they entered
They are almost all buried in the Steely (Now Bend) Cemetery 4 miles north of Covington, Indiana as are many, many of their descendants. I INTEND TO BURIED THEIR, TOO!
I would more than glad to send each of you my list of descendants of Johann Phillip and Johann Martin Neubecker if you are interested in having them.
It is my FIRM belief that the name Martin was slipped intoa Swiss Johann Nibiker's name and is erroneous and un-substantiated and should be disregarded.
Sincerely, Richard V. Shelby
